How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I come from a corporate background and have always been fanatical about great customer service even when the companies I worked for didn't encourage it. After moving into a new home I needed services such as carpet cleaning, pest control and landscaping. I couldn't believe how many business owners let calls go to voice mail resulting in missed opportunities to capture new business. I took my passion for service and turned it into a business that supports small business owners so that they can grow their businesses.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
When I think of a standard answering service I think of people who take messages but can never really offer help. I've called Doctors offices before during lunch only to be told "This is just the answering service." To me this means I can't really help you. At Back Office Betties we aren't just message takers. We're an extension of our clients business. A perfect example is a landscaping customer called in today frustrated that she hasn't received her invoice. When we reached out to the business owner he confessed his printer has been down for a while. Our receptionist asked him to email the invoice to us and we'll print it out and pop it in the mail for him.
This isn't a one off scenario either. Going above and beyond for our clients is part of our culture. If we aren't helping businesses to run smoother and grow we aren't fulfilling our mission.
