In her current practice, Dr. Hoffman enjoys a combination of both diagnostic assessments and therapeutic treatment of a variety of presenting concerns. Dr. Hoffman specializes in psychoeducational and psychological evaluation of developmental disorders including Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities (i.e. dyslexia, etc.), Intellectual Disabilities, and other difficulties related to academic achievement and school related needs (such as IEP’s and 504 Plans). In recent years, she has developed a niche in working with children and teens with anxiety disorders, where she finds her brain-based, skills focused style of therapy is not only well received by the children and teens she works with, but also effective in helping them to learn valuable coping tools to feel better. Dr. Hoffman especially enjoys working with the gifted population in helping those children and teens overcome their anxiety and perfectionism and work toward their potential. In addition to anxiety disorders, Dr. Hoffman also works with youth experiencing depression, anger, peer troubles/bullying, divorce, grief/loss, attachment needs, needs for improved self esteem, among other problem areas. Finally, Dr. Hoffman has a special interest in working with families with foster and adopted children, as she completed her doctoral dissertation researching successful characteristics of families with children adopted post-infancy.
